The Landes department unveiled a few days ago the time-lapse (accelerated video) of the work on the Pont de Sorde-l’Abbaye above the Gave d'Oloron, which lasted almost two years and whose reopening was made official on July 22. In the images, we can see from A to Z this project which cost 5.7 million euros.
270 tonnes of reinforcement, 109.8 meters long
The structure, 110 meters long, was rebuilt identically with four piers and five bays, and a 6 meter wide roadway. It had been classified 3U according to the IQOA (Image Quality of Works of Art) rating, corresponding to “a work whose structure is seriously damaged and requiring urgent repair work” explained the Landes department at the time.
During this work, Compensatory measures have also been planned for the house martin and the common kestrel“two protected species recorded on the site” namely 61 artificial nests for the swallow and a nest box for the falcon.

- Overall width of the structure: 8.88 m
- Road width: 6.00 m
- Width of sidewalks: 0.9 m (upstream) and 1.3 m (downstream)
- Deck thickness: beam (85 cm) + slab (27 cm) = 1.12 m
- Number of supports in minor bed: 3
- Guardrail: metal
- Deep foundations: 26 piles
- 270 tonnes of reinforcement
- 1500 m3 of concrete
