A traffic accident that occurred yesterday evening, Sunday November 3, caused a total traffic stop on the A20 for approximately 1 hour 30 minutes near the town of Saint-Ybard, in Corrèze.
Falling asleep may be the cause of the accident
While traveling in the Paris-Toulouse direction with a passenger on board a utility vehicle, to which a trailer was attached, the driver dozed off and was unable to avoid the accident. It was around 10 p.m. when the vehicle, after hitting a barrier, crossed the tracks. A car following him was unable to avoid him and collided with the trailer. Projected debris also damaged vehicles traveling on opposite lanes.
Containers and an electric meter burned in this town of Corrèze
Fortunately, the spectacular collision caused no casualties. By the time it took to extract the damaged car and convoy, traffic remained completely blocked for 1 hour 30 minutes, causing a relative traffic jam of 2 km at the peak of traffic. As the guardrails were damaged, traffic remained in one lane in both directions for the rest of the night.
The gendarmes from the Uzerche motorized platoon were on site to secure the area and carry out observations.
