Rural Coordination vs FDC of Dordogne: “farmers are not the adversaries of hunters”

Since November 19, a real battle has started between the Dordogne Hunters' Federation and the Rural Coordination. The angry farmers carried out a fist-fighting action in front of the buildings of the Federation which decided to take the matter to court, the CR reacted in a press release.

The farmers want to put the church back in the middle of the village.

In a two-page press release, Rural Coordination 24 wanted to clarify the difference between them and the Dordogne Hunters' Federation.

The response provided in this press release is intended to be “clear and firm” because if the farmers are angry with the Federation, they want to remind us that they are not angry with the hunters.

While the Dordogne FDC decided to file a complaint against CR 24 following the deposit of boars' heads on the building's gates and the spreading of slurry, the union wanted to clarify the situation.

The latter regrets that the FDC seeks to “victimize itself” instead of recognizing that wild boar management is not carried out as it should, which causes significant damage to crops.

The CR24 recalls that the mobilization of November 19 is only the echo of the fed up of farmers who have the feeling that not all efforts are being put in place to reduce the swine population.

On the one hand, compensation never fully covers the losses and stress caused by wild boar damage according to the union, which emphasizes the fact that if there is hunting, it is because the owners landowners and, in fact, farmers, maintain the plots to make them available.

“Without the agricultural land that we maintain and make available, there would simply be no hunting.”

Rural Coordination refuses that the FDC “dictates its law”.

The agricultural union then makes a distinction between the Federation and the hunters.

In full and bold letters, the organization clearly states:

« Farmers are not the enemies of hunters.«

The CR24 nevertheless wishes to reiterate their conception of the matter on the fact that hunting serves agriculture and not the other way around:

“It is not up to the FDC24 to dictate its law to us, as the lords of yesteryear sought to do in the time of Jacquou le Croquant. We intend to make you understand that we, farmers, have the power to decide what happens on our land, without the approval or orders of the Federation. »

However, Rural Coordination does not want to cut off dialogue with hunter representatives and indicates that it is waiting for them to make contact in order to change the situation. The union certainly expects that these dialogues will result in allowing hunters to benefit from more freedoms in the harvests that they can carry out on hunting territories with regard to wild boar.
