Tour Info | Parcels for the homeless, toy donations… 5 solidarity operations before Christmas in Indre-et-Loire

Since this Friday 1is November is the winter break period, which means a ban on rental evictions (even in the event of non-payment) and increased resources for emergency accommodation. That said, there are still hundreds of people in need. Or precarious homes that need a helping hand to get through everyday life better, or the delicate end-of-year holiday period.

In the coming weeks, several solidarity operations are being launched to bring smiles to times of difficulty. We list some of them in this article.

Main dans la Main 37’s packages: the collective itself recalls this on its Facebook page, “we can say that it has become a ritual. » At the end of the year, he calls for small packages to be made for people in difficulty. The idea is to put something tasty (cakes, sweets, etc.), something warm to protect yourself from the cold (gloves, hats, socks, etc.), 1 cosmetic product (lip balm, moisturizing cream, shower gel …), 1 game for children and attention for pets (treats, for example).

Donations can be packaged in a gift bag or shoebox. They will be distributed “as a priority” to people on the street, but also in reception centers. The collection points are listed on the Main dans la Main 37 Facebook page but we will cite part of them here: Terre Y Fruits in St-Cyr-sur- and Ballan-Miré, the social center of the Vallée Violette in Joué or O Bistrot Quai in Esvres. Please note: it only starts on November 9 and ends on December 18.

Assault Chickens: focused on women in difficulty, the association is launching a similar collection until December 15. This involves making bags with warm items (hats, gloves, scarves but not clothes), cosmetic products (toothbrush, sanitary napkins, soap, lip balm, etc.), leisure activities (pocket books, Comics, newspapers), treats and a little note (Christmas card, child's drawing, etc.). It is specified that you must not use a lighter, razor, nail clipper or candle.

This is number 4e year that this operation was organized in Touraine. You can donate to La Cabane à Pizza, a food truck present in the evening on Thursday in Courçay, Friday in Limeray, Saturday in La -en-Touraine, Sunday in Tauxigny or Monday in Athée-sur-Cher. There is also the Dr Marteens boutique on Rue Nationale in , the Play Café on Rue des Déportés, Le Piraat on Rue du Grand Marché or the Proxi on Rue Charles de Gaulle in Saint-Avertin. The complete list on www.poulettes-assassinat.fr.

Collective No Children on the Street: he currently supervises the accommodation of families at the Jules Ferry gymnasium in Tours. These are people who do not have places in emergency accommodation and benefit from logistical support from the town hall and Tours Métropole. The collective's volunteers have launched calls for donations to improve daily life, or even finance hotel nights if there are other people to accommodate. You can fill the kitty by going directly to the venue before 6:30 p.m. Details on the collective's Facebook page.

A Christmas for All: this operation began in mid-October and continues until December 13. This is his 5e edition. This is a partnership between the Terres du Son festival and the Naya association which operates in the Rabaterie district in St-Pierre-des-Corps as well as at Sanitas in Tours. It collects games and toys with the objective of exceeding 2,000 pieces, and therefore of doing better than the record reached in 2023.

Donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Mame, Boulevard Preuilly in Tours. Toys must be second-hand, intended for children aged 0 to 14, and in good condition. At the end of the collection, five redistributions of the toys will be organized in the Sanitas, Courteline, Fontaines, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps and Bouzignac districts. And if there are still any left, they will be offered to other local associations.

Christmas Oranges: it is a Rotary operation which consists of purchasing boxes of untreated oranges directly from a cooperative. The price: €30 for 12.5kg or €2.40 per kilo. Last year, thanks to this action, two teenagers were able to realize their dream of going abroad to study for a year, as part of the Rotary Student Exchange program.

In addition, businesses have the opportunity to get actively involved by purchasing crates of oranges to offer them to Restos du Cœur or the Food Bank. Orders are placed here.
