Gard: Nicolas Cadène responds to the comments of Béatrice Leccia – News – Politics – Gard – Nimes – EELV

Following the interview published this Monday as part of our “Monday political interview” section, in which Béatrice Leccia, spokesperson for EELV in , mentioned in particular the candidacy of Nicolas Cadène for the 6th Gard constituency during the last legislative elections, the latter wished to exercise its right of reply.

Here, in its entirety, is the text he sent to us:

“I was a candidate in the 6th constituency of Gard because the party's instructions were that the 2022 candidates (including me) had to lead this lightning campaign. I didn't put any pressure on it. S. Jannekeyn tried to impose B. Leccia, without a vote from Gard activists. For the union, I offered him to be my substitute. With all the NFP we led a great campaign. Despite the context, we achieved the best score against the RN in Gard and here the best ever obtained in terms of number of votes. We lost very narrowly, at 49%, and won in Nîmes. Marine Tondelier congratulated me and asked me to join. I did it but the same people who wanted to impose B. Leccia refused my membership for fear “that [je] be invested in their quota for municipal elections.”

It's politicking and the national has not decided anything, because it is a regional competence. As for my environmental commitment, I was notably one of the first in the south to alert Parliament to the risks of shale gas and I participated in the writing of the Biodiversity and Anti-waste laws. I will continue to work with the many sincere environmentalists who work for the common interest and change everyone’s lives for the better.”
