In recent months, the Place de l'an 2000 in Saint-Mamet has seen the growth of a wood covered building which catches the eye of the passer-by. The Proxi supermarket previously located in the Puy Saint Laurent subdivision will move in a brand new building. Space to move around, brand new gondolasthe eye which goes directly to the products highlighted, customers will soon discover their business which has had a makeover. Séverine and Patrick Causse as well as their two employees Tiffany and Camille will now welcome their customers in 265 m2.
A long-considered project
In 2015, Séverine and Patrick Causse are at the head of the Saint-Mamet supermarket. She is originally from Leucamp and made studies of commerce. He comes from Maurs and works at Qualipac. Both have long wanted to start a business together. When the opportunity to take over the business a convenience store shows up, they decide to go for it.
Quickly, they found themselves cramped in the 165 m2 of the local commerce. From 2019, they began to think about building their own business on the place of the year 2000. Patrick Causse explains the project: “The objective is that there is a certain commercial cohesion in the village with all the shops gathered in the same place.
But, at the height of the Covid pandemicconsumers have largely turned to small local shops for their daily shopping. For a year and a half, with their heads in the handlebars, Séverine and Patrick Causse did not have time to develop their project. Once, the health situation restored, they contact the town hall to see if their project interests them.
The municipality then decides to follow up by financing the construction of of the building. The two managers of Proxi Super will be the tenants investing in cold rooms and the equipment necessary for the development of the sales area.
A larger sales area and choice of products
Benefiting from an additional 100 m2, Séverine and Patrick Causse decided toexpand their product range by offering more choice. Customers will find new activities there such as the hot spot (with the baking breadpastries and hot dishes) but also selling flowers.
THE local producers are always favored: the Le Croissant Doré bakery, the delicious Saint-Mamet blueberries from Pierre Souchaire, the Brunhes butcher's shop, the Bonal cheese factoryorganic meat from Esban, honey from the apiary Lagarde in Parlan, the daughter-in-law's farm and the Bos farm in Leynhacyogurts and bread from the farm the red house in Vitrac, to name just a few.
Patrick Causse summarizes the philosophy of the place: “We also have un aspect social. The goal is to help people who cannot move to Aurillac. We hope to respond favorably to customer demand because without them, nothing is possible.”
