The Grappe-toi program attracted five young people, including two political refugees from Tibet.

Five women last year for the first edition, five men this fall for the second, the “Grappe toi” program lives up to its name. The mission is complicated. The suitors are rare gems to find. “You have to contact a hundred people to find five”summarizes Bertrand Rouanet, general delegate of the Fond'actions Jeunes of Crédit Agricole Midi-Pyrénées, drawing on elements from Travail.

Added to these organizations are the Jeune Montagne cooperatives in Laguiole and Alliance Porci d'Oc in Sainte-Radegonde, the La Roque high school in Onet for the theoretical part, all of which welcome the approach. This allows you to discover the professions in the agricultural world and show how they have evolved to change the bad image.

The interest is to attract young people who do not come from the agricultural world, “to light a path”says Bertrand Rouanet. Orient, make people touch reality. It goes from afar. None of the candidates had a driving license even though in rural areas, this is vital. A taxi had been arranged. It must also be said that of the five candidates, two, Darjee and Karma, are political refugees from Tibet.

A human adventure

Arriving in April, they are learning the language and another culture. “I’m a little moved because it was a great human experience, it’s very enriching”confides Jérôme Hercouet, operations director of the La Roque agricultural high school. And to put things into perspective. Tibetans were impressed by technology, the modern world. The program had the merit of bringing people together through professions that nourish them. If they do not all engage in the agricultural sector, the goal, to quote Bertrand Rouanet, is “to light the way.”

The latter hopes to develop this program in other departments. This is already the case in Tarn-et-Garonne. And to expand it to other professions. Tracks were established in public works. As the shortage of employment is everywhere, professions linked to the forest are also considered. Many professions in tension which have the virtuous effect of forcing us to move towards others. In the meantime, it was proposed to continue the Agrippe toi program, France travail suggested meeting in February-March.
