Saturday October 26 in the Frédéric-Bazille room, Michel Vlaminck, president of the local section of Veterans and his team welcomed the Hérault federation on the occasion of its general assembly in the presence of Jérôme Pouget, mayor of the town and around sixty members. Session chaired by Serge Le Cloarec, surrounded by members of his office. A minute of silence was observed in memory of comrades who died during the year.
1,880 members
The general secretary underlined that the number of members in the department increased from 1,889 members in 2023 to 1,880 this year (deaths and resignations). 33 sections make up the federation and not having a regiment in Hérault, recruitment becomes difficult. Treasurer Philippe Devraigne has drawn up the financial report. He asked local sections to submit articles of their activities for the magazine The fighter. The departmental president emphasized in his speech that from now on, the Secretary of State for Veterans is replaced by a delegate minister.
He gave details on the finances of the National Union of Combatants (UNC) at the national level and spoke about the activities of the office (ceremonies, presentation of flags or even the general assemblies of the sections). UNC medals were awarded to four members including Michel Vlaminck, the Saint-Clement president (silver medal) to the warm applause of the entire audience.
In conclusion, the mayor was delighted to welcome this general assembly of the Hérault federation to the commune and specified: “We know how essential it is to remember and honor those who fought for peace, it is with this spirit that we must continue to work together to support our veterans and pass on their legacy to future generations.” This general assembly made it possible to highlight the determining role of local sections in the world of Veterans in the Hérault department. There followed an aperitif offered by the commune and a fraternal meal.
