A six-year-old child is between life and death after being hit by a tram, according to information from the Parisian. The accident occurred on Friday around 4 p.m. in Sarcelles, avenue de la Division-Leclerc, in the Grand Ensemble. The child was transported to the Necker-Enfants Malades hospital in Paris, and his vital prognosis is seriously threatened according to the medical team.
According to information collected on site, two children were walking and crossed the tracks without looking when a tram arrived. The driver, surprised, did not have time to brake and violently hit one of the children. The firefighters and Smur, who quickly arrived on site, were able to provide first aid to the child.
The mother of the child, transported after being stabilized, and the tram driver were both treated by the firefighters on site, shocked but without being hospitalized. An elected official from the town of Sarcelles also went to the site, as did the police, who came to secure the emergency response and begin their investigation into the circumstances of the tragedy. A fatal accident had already involved a tram in Sarcelles in May 2020, when a woman in her seventies was struck on avenue Paul-Valéry.
