The accident occurred early in the morning of this Saturday, November 2, 2024. At 7:52 a.m., twenty-six firefighters intervened in the town of Mortain-Bocage (Manche), rue du pont Bossard to rescue a young man from 16 years old.
The latter was driving a tractor with a corn silage trailer and fell eight meters below. The trailer remained balanced but the tractor landed on its roof. The fall caused a diesel leak near a watercourse.
When help arrived, the driver had already gotten out of the vehicle. Seriously injured, he was transported by the Dragon 50 helicopter to Avranches Hospital. An ambulance, a road emergency vehicle, another protection and security vehicle, a nursing vehicle, a fire van and a chemical risk vehicle went to the site.
The firefighters carried out a reconnaissance and then secured the site and the vehicle. As part of the fight against pollution, they also installed a land dam at the level of the watercourse affected by the accident.
The circumstances of this event are not yet known.
