the essential
Rue Anatole-France which leads to Rue de Lalande (itself running alongside the Agen-Périgueux railway line) had for a long time been nothing more than a path with an uneven profile and bordered by a ditch. Today it is a beautiful, completely rehabilitated street.
Thomas Zamboni, deputy mayor in charge of neighborhoods, accompanied by several elected officials, took this Thursday, October 31, the day of the inauguration, to recall the history of this rehabilitation: “This street touches me more than many others. I remember that, as a young elected official, I received a delegation of residents from rue Anatole-France complaining, rightly, about the barely passable state of their street. The first challenge was to integrate this private road into the public domain. » Thomas Zamboni took the opportunity to point out that rue Anatole France was at the origin of the integration, now every year, of private roads into the public domain (there remain dozens of streets handed over to the public but which remain private).
A renovated road
“The second challenge was to convince the Agglomeration to install a rainwater network,” added the deputy mayor who had started this process with Mickaël Geslot, municipal councilor.
These two obstacles having been removed, the Mathieu Park neighborhood council chaired by Mohamed Oulad Rhiate, was able to program the complete rehabilitation of this street which presents a renovated road without forgetting a greening at the base of the wall to embellish it. “This street deserved this total renovation as a priority and the decision of the neighborhood council was the right one. I thank the residents who came to show us their satisfaction. I take this opportunity to reaffirm that the rehabilitation of a multitude of small streets in Agen, among the nearly 600 in our city, must become an absolute priority,” added Thomas Zamboni.
