The Paul Boutefeu municipal swimming pool in Noyonin Oise, will it reopen? This is a legitimate question since the equipment, closed to swimmers since last August due to a pump problem, was inspected by a firm mandated by the municipality. And the findings are not really positive.
Considered dilapidated, the building built more than 50 years ago is in a delicate state. Recently, the mayor (LR) Sandrine Dauchelle had announced its decision to close the swimming pool for several months in order to “undertake essential renovation work”.
Significant damage and advanced corrosion
But according to the Préventec firm, cited by The Picard Courier“the structures contain numerous damages. In particular significant corrosion of the steels in the concrete, causing it to burst and weakening of structures ».
“We are also observing advanced corrosion of the metal framework elements. These significant degradations damage the solidity cold of the building”. The cabinet advises the town hall “not to reopen this establishment to the public, and to begin a diagnostic campaign to find out the extent of the disorder”.
“It will no longer reopen”, according to a municipal councilor
Will Noyon town hall, in a critical financial situation, have the necessary funds to carry out a large-scale project? “It's over, it will not reopen again »buries Ouicem Gadacha, opposition municipal councilor. “The mayor will not be able to undertake work and the swimming pool will become even more worn out. Today, the pumps are rusting,” he denounces.
The Noyon swimming pool will become a wasteland.
He declares that Sandrine Dauchelle “should have made quotes for work in 2020, when she took office”.
In the municipal opposition, pessimism reigns over a possible reopening of aquatic facilities. Former sports assistant Carole Bureau-Bonnard (2008-2010) explains that “work was planned for 2020, but the mayor and her team swept aside everything we had undertaken”.
“Financial capacity is at zero”
The one who is now in opposition believes that the City would not have the resources “neither to renovate the swimming pool nor to propose the project of another aquatic complex”.
Financial capacity is at zero, this year as well as next year. I don't see how it will be possible to repair or bring this pool up to safety standards which seem important and necessary. We are very worried because we do not see a short-term solution.
Contacted, the office of Mayor Sandrine Dauchelle did not respond to our questions.
