Thursday evening, on the A304 motorway, near Charleville-Mézières, a Dutch couple dressed as Batman and Catwoman for Halloween were arrested by the Ardennes gendarmerie. Their vehicle was flashed at an impressive speed of 203 km/h, well beyond the authorized limits. An offense which will cause them to continue their adventures… on foot.
As reported by France Bleu, the check with the gendarmerie took place calmly. Rather than getting angry, the two superheroes for one night even agreed to pose with their Halloween masks behind the wheel of their black Porsche. On its Facebook page, the gendarmerie says: “On this Halloween day, our operator organized a meeting between superheroes. Batman and Catwoman had to call on Alfred Pennyworth, their butler, to continue their journey, because the Batmobile took the direction of the pound after a serious speeding violation.
In addition to the seizure of the vehicle, Batman had his license immediately revoked. The gendarmerie specified that the driver risks being banned from driving in France for three years. The couple, who accepted the situation with humor, joined in the fun by posing with the police for a series of souvenir photos.
Their adventure in France will therefore end with a fine of 750 euros and a temporary driving ban for Batman, pending recovery of his license.
