A park and ride facility and a carpooling area have opened at one of the city entrances to Caen (Calvados) the most frequented.
62 parking spaces have been rehabilitated and a secure box for bicycles allows you to leave your mode of transport to take public transport to more easily reach the city center of Caen, in particular.
At the junction of three municipalities
This new location opened in the so-called “Grands Bureaux” area, at the junction between Caen, Mondeville and Colombelles. It is located just before entering la zone Effisciences of Colombelles, which today counts 2,400 employees and nearly 800 students.
This park and ride responds to a real need. That of parking your car and taking public transport to make traveling easier.
In fact, several buses stop right in front, on departmental road 613. This is lines 6, 9, 11 express and Nomad buses 111 and 1105.
Useful for vehicles that will no longer be able to circulate
This new parking hub will also be particularly useful at the time of the establishment of the ZFE (Low Emission Zone) from January 1, 2025. In fact, on that date, vehicles put into service before 1997 will not be able to no longer circulate in the Caen area. However, they will be able to reach this new car park to leave their car there.
Another relay car park will be built in 2025 in the Beaulieu district, at avenue Georges Pompidou in connection with the future tram stop.
