The AI tour of began in

Organized by Medef and Numeum, the main French professional digital organization, the artificial intelligence tour de France began on October 30 in Reunion. Objective: to raise awareness among companies of issues that they are still too unaware of.

How can we ensure that France does not miss the artificial intelligence train? The concern is general and leads the State to organize, on February 10 and 11, 2025 in , a summit for action on artificial intelligence (Artificial Intelligence Action Summit) with international scope.

To prepare for it, Medef and Numeum, the main French professional digital organization, are organizing an artificial intelligence tour of France in around twenty stages. The premiere took place on Wednesday October 30 at the Cité des Arts in Saint-Denis. It made it possible to highlight local initiatives and achievements in terms of data and artificial intelligence. Four key themes were addressed: data, training, practical applications of AI and cybersecurity.

Only 7% of user companies

Digital Réunion, the association of digital professionals and Medef Réunion, which had held its annual general meeting the day before, mobilized their troops to raise awareness of issues that they are still too unaware of. Véronique Torner, president of Numeum, recalled some national realities: 7% of French companies use AI today, if the current trend continues they will be 19% in ten years while this rate should reach 75% in 2034 so that France stays in the race.

The situation is hardly different in Reunion, according to Yannick Berezaie, regional delegate of Numeum, Antoine Devasle and Anaïs Série, president and general manager of Digital Réunion. “The awareness-raising actions that we propose arouse enthusiasm but there is little action,” they testify. Simplon even had to close an AI work-study course due to lack of a host company.”

The takeover of AI by companies could be facilitated by a new system that France Travail is preparing to deploy in Reunion: Numéric'Emploi. “We are going to build tailor-made training courses to reduce the gap between people’s skills and the needs of companies in the digital field,” announces Olivier Pelvoizin, regional director of France Travail. The objective will be to upgrade qualifications at the same time as companies improve their skills in AI.”
