Santiago's mother, this baby kidnapped in Seine-Saint-Denis a few days after his birthshould be delivered next week” to the French authorities, according to the Amsterdam court. Concerning the father of the child, he “opted for the long procedure and the request for postponement will be processed at a public hearing of the International Legal Assistance Chamber at a later date”, explained the court spokesperson. The date of this hearing is not yet known.

Four days on the run

Santiago was kidnapped on the night of October 21 to 22 from the maternity ward of Aulnay-sous-, in Seine-Saint-Denis, which triggered the kidnapping alert device. The baby, very premature, was then 17 days old. His parents, aged 23 and 25, were immediately identified as the main suspects.

After four days of a leak passing notably through Belgiumthe family had finally been found in an Amsterdam hotel and the parents were arrested. The grandmother was also present. The baby was “good health” and had been “hospitalized to receive the care he [avait] need” Amsterdam police said.
