The residents of Saint-Aubin-de-Luigné (Maine-et-Loire) can't take it anymore. In question, the Corniche Angevin road which crosses their small town. This axis has become the meeting place for many speed enthusiasts who tend to take the place for a circuit. Residents have therefore decided to mobilize to make themselves heard, report our colleagues from West France.
The RD751 connects Rochefort-sur-Loire to Chalonnes-sur-Loire. This winding road of around ten kilometers may be in poor condition, but bikers love this route. The local residents a little less. The nuisances generated are numerous. On the one hand, there is the noise of the engines at all hours, and on the other hand, the risky behavior of users who have a heavy foot on the accelerator.
Speed limit of 50 km/h refused
An educational radar has been installed at the entrance to the town, but it seems ineffective. At the end of July, a serious motorcycle accident gave local residents the opportunity to express their concern. In particular, they demanded a limit of 50 km/h in the sector. A request refused. Faced with this refusal, the residents chose to create an association to carry out their demand.
“Les Amis de la Corniche Angevin” hope to convince the authorities, while organizing events around the heritage of the Corniche Angevin. The initiative is supported by the mayor of the town, Sandrine Belleut, who hopes that the Maine-et-Loire prefecture will hear the anger of its constituents.
