A dramatic accident occurred on Friday November 1, 2024, around 6:30 a.m., on the A 13 motorway at the Heudebouville toll, between Louviers and Gaillon in Eure, A car traveling in the provincial direction -Paris, hit a concrete block located at the entrance to the toll booth, with strong kinetics, resulting in a tragic death toll of three victims, three men, the driver and two passengers.
First aid was quickly mobilized to the scene, with 23 firefighters and two SMUR dispatched to try to assist the victims.
Heavy impact
Despite their efforts to resuscitate the driver, heavily trapped in the vehicle, these attempts were in vain. The emergency services were faced with a particularly serious situation, the vehicle's engine being thrown into the passenger compartment, which complicated the extrication operations.
Due to the accident, five toll lanes were neutralized, causing significant traffic jams and disruptions on the motorway network. The firefighter intervention ended shortly before 10 a.m.
The investigation is entrusted to the Eure road safety department squadron (EDSR) under the authority of the Évreux public prosecutor's office.
