after 65 years, the death of a ski resort

This is the end of a great story for Le Grand Puy. Alpes-de-Haute-Provence ski resort located in the Blanche valley, in Seyne-les-Alpes, this winter sports center is therefore officially ceasing its activity. The residents validated, as part of a local referendum, the deliberation establishing the cessation of the operation of the ski lifts on November 1, 2024. A deliberation adopted by the municipal council on July 22 with twelve elected votes. for”, one abstention and two “against”.

The verdict at the polls will have confirmed this decision: 71.3% of voters, on October 6, felt that it was now necessary to turn the page on alpine skiing. The place, regularly hit by a lack of snow due, in particular, to its altitude (snow front at 1,370 m, summit at 1,800 m), must find a new future… and a different tourist model. The ski lifts and snow guns will very soon be dismantled and then transferred.

Beginner's paradise

A page which is turning not without emotion, because it is a fact: the emotion aroused by the decision to dismantle the Grand Puy ski lifts may seem disproportionate given the very low attendance in recent years, even when the conditions were very good.
