Inform and alert about violence against womenthis is the objective of the Community of Communes of Pont du , engaged in this fight.

In order to raise public awareness, two major events will take place in November on the occasion of the 2024 edition of the Conference on Violence Against Women, an annual meeting created by the intercommunality in partnership with the Information center on the rights of women and families in Gard.

A poignant exhibition

From 1is to November 30 in Remoulins, at the Public Services Housea photo exhibition will be present. Entitled “We demand”, it will shed light on a sensitive subject.

Through the exhibition, David Casselgendarmerie officer and photographer in his free time, offers a series of 15 portraits of women accompanied by poignant stories.

“This exhibition is a project which aims to denounce domestic violence, by giving a voice to those who have often been silenced.”
Community of communes of Pont du Gard

This artistic work is the result of a collaboration with models and a makeup artist from the Nîmes region. A work already praised during its presentation at the international photojournalism festival “Visa for the image” in . “Through this event, we are calling on people to think and learn about a subject that is unfortunately too often topical”.

A screening-debate

Information and awareness raising among intercommunal communities which will also include a screening-debate on Thursday November 21 at the media library of Aramon. Entitled “Les Maux bleus”, a short film directed by Guillaume Pont will once again denounce the violence suffered by women.

The debate will be moderated by Via femina fame (an association which supports victims in their legal, psychological and social reconstruction procedures). It will allow us to discuss with the public the realities of domestic violence, both physically and psychologically.

“It is important to talk about violence against women. It is an increasingly present problem in our country”regret the elected officials. “Thanks to these two events, we hope to raise awareness of a dramatic reality, by promoting exchanges and offering concrete tools for victims”.

Exhibition hours: 9 am-12 noon, 2 pm-4 pm at the House of Public Services. Free admission. Screening-debate at 7 pm at the media library of Aramon. Reservation required: cc-pontdugard.fr.
