Heritage Ephemera

Town hall press release. Cahors is once again adorned with its historic clothes thanks to the 3rd edition of Éphémères du Patrimoine, organized by the Cahors association, Heritage in Movement. In partnership with the Museum of Resistance, Deportation and Liberation of the Lot, two new exhibitions invite you to travel through the ages and discover the city’s rich heritage in a new light. On Place Hélène-Metges, let yourself be transported by the exhibition The Remarkable Bridges of Cahors. From the 12th century Old Bridge to the 14th century Valentré Bridge, via the 13th century Pont Neuf, trace the history of these works which shaped the identity of the medieval city. Then take Rue Nationale, from Place Rousseau to Place Metges, and immerse yourself in the Shadows of the Resistance. On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of France and Cahors, this exhibition pays tribute to the unsung heroes who fought against the German occupation. Discover the journeys of Hélène Metges, a leading resistance fighter, and other figures such as Gabriel Niel, Pierre Méric and André Vessières. Labeled by the National Mission for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, this exhibition will transport you to the heart of the Cadurcian Resistance. These two free and open-access exhibitions await you until September 30. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich and captivating history of Cahors.
