The continuation of work to replace the Saint-Denis railway bridge will take place over the weekend of November 1 to 3, causing significant disruptions on several lines in the direction of Gare du Nord, in particular the RER B, D as well as certain TER.
Traffic once again disrupted at Gare du Nord for this All Saints’ Day weekend. Work to replace the Saint-Denis railway bridge, which began on the weekend of October 25 to 27, will continue from November 1 to 3, severely disrupting train traffic towards the Gare du Nord in Paris.
According to a press release from the prefecture of the Île-de-France region, Île-de-France mobilities and the SNCF, during these phases of work, “traffic will be reduced on the RER B and D Nord, line K and H and the TER Hauts-de-France Paris-Laon and Paris-Beauvais entering and exiting Gare du Nord.
The significantly reduced offer on the RER, TER and Transilien
For the RER B et Dthe offer will be particularly reduced. On the northern part of line B, only 9 trains will run per hour, or 45% of the usual offer.
In addition, the offer will be reduced to 1 in 2 trains between Paris Gare du Nord and Denfert-Rochereau, i.e. 50% of the normal frequency. As for line D, the situation is similar, with 6 trains per hour on the northern part, representing 50% of the service.
Added to this is the suspension of the interconnection at Gare du Nord for RER B and D, as well as the interruption of trains between Châtelet-Les Halles and Paris Gare du Nord on line D.
The press release also warns that the Transilien lines H et K will be affected by this work: eleven trains per hour for line H and no traffic to or from Paris for line K.
For the TER, the service will be reduced to one train per hour on the Paris-Beauvais line, while the TER Paris-Crépy-en-Valois will only run at the rate of one to two trains during peak hours, morning and evening with extended travel time.
Reinforcements to compensate for this inconvenience
Due to these disruptions, metro line 4 risks being heavily used between Châtelet and Gare du Nord. The SNCF therefore invites, in its press release, “all travelers to avoid, as far as possible, taking all these lines and going to the Gare du Nord during the work, and to favor alternative routes.”
To facilitate travel, train reinforcements are planned on lines 4, 5 and 14 as well as on bus lines, “notably bus 150″ but also Roissybus”. Buses “are also planned between Crépy-Dammartin and Esbly.
SNCF strongly recommends that travelers anticipate their journeys by consulting mobility applications and sites.
The next disruptions linked to this work will take place on the weekend of November 23 to 24. Interventions will also be necessary from February 14 to 17 and from February 21 to 24, 2025, due to the installation of the new bridge. The commissioning of the latter is expected on August 15, 2025.
