This Wednesday, certain residents of the Thénezay sector, in the Deux-Sèvres department, will receive an alert on their mobile phone, according to information from France Bleu Poitou.
Indeed, the FR-Alert system, a system for sending real-time notifications to the phones of residents in danger zones, will be tested in the middle of the week. This alert is also recognizable by the specific sound emitted by the notification.
The FR-Alert device tested three hours in the morning
This signal was received by a good number of French people during the violent storm Leslie which hit the departments of Haute-Loire, Loire, Rhône, and even Ardèche. It is in this context that the inhabitants of these departments were warned of the sudden rise in water levels, which occurred in mid-October.
To perfect this alert system, which informs of the danger and the measures to be taken, a test will take place in Deux-Sèvres, from 9:15 a.m. to noon. According to the department prefecture, “no response or action is expected from the people who received the notification and/or the message as part of the exercise”. There is therefore no need to worry for residents of the Thénezay sector who will receive this alert.
