On June 9, Guyana will host the flame for the first time in its history. The relay will pass through six municipalities in the department: Camopi, Saint-Georges de l’Oyapock, Matoury, Cayenne, Macouria, Kourou and Saint-Laurent du Maroni. Discover the route right here.

Only a few days left before the arrival of the Olympic flame here. For 24 hours, all eyes will be on Guyana. This is stage 28 (out of 68) before the symbol returns to Paris for the launch of the 2024 Olympics, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.

The flame will arrive in the East, at Camopi. His arrival will be celebrated during a Native American ceremony. She will then go to Saint-Laurent du Maroni, more precisely to the transportation camp. The next stage will be held in Kourou: the flame will pass to the space center, in front of the model of the Ariane 5 rocket.

Then return to eastern Guyana, to Saint-Georges. It will then be in Macouria, then in Matoury before finishing this stage on the Place des Palmistes, in Cayenne.. Note that there will also be the collective relay in Rémire-Montjoly, at the Suzini Dojo with Lucie Decosse.

Consult the map which details the program for this day.

Guyana will be the first overseas territory to receive the flame. Indeed, it will then pass to Reunion, French Polynesia but also Guadeloupe and Martinique. Note also that due to tensions in New Caledonia, the passage of the flame was canceled in the territory.
