The route of the Tour de France 2025 was revealed this Tuesday by Christian Prudhomme, race director: a Big departure in the North on Saturday July 5a getaway to Normandy and Brittany, then to the Pyrenees and the Alps, before a final arrival on the Champs-Elysées in Paris on Sunday July 27. After three days across the Nord and Pas-de-Calais, the peloton will leave on July 8 from Amiens in Picardy (Hauts-de-France), direction Rouen (Normandy). A stage of 173 km.
Crossing the Picardy plain will expose the runners to the wind, warn the organizers. We can expect borders, then a rivalry between punchers in the last 40 kilometers. Three climbs on the program at the end of the stage: that of Bonsecours (900m at 7.2%) where the stele dedicated to Jean Robicthat of Grand'Mare (1.8m at 5%) and especially the Saint-Hilaire ramp (900m at 10.6% and even a passage at 15%)less than 7km from the finish.
Amiens is a stopover city for the 14th time. The last stage of the Grande Boucle in the city dates back to 2018. It was the arrival of the 8th stage of the 105th Tour de FranceDreux-Amiens. The Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen won in the sprint. THE last departure from Amiens dates back to 2004 and the arrival in Chartres allowed Thomas Voeckler to put on the yellow jersey.
Rouen is also a major city in the Tour with 19 stages on the clock, counting the 2025 edition. In 2012, the prefecture of Seine-Maritime was the arrival city of the 4th and departure city of the 5th stage. And it is of course the city of the champion Jacques Anquetilwho won at home for his first participation in the Tour in 1957.
