L’association “Land Nomads” launches a new activity of “ slow tourism ” in the Batchwith stays in carriage. Or the art of traveling while taking your time. The first two stays are offered in summer 2024.

Responsible tourism

Stroll to the relaxing rhythm of the horses on the Causses du Quercy, the Ségala and the Limargue, fall asleep to the breath of the wind against the tipi canvas and learn new skills as a group, that’s what the young association “Nomades des Terres”. This project was launched two years ago and was made possible thanks to financial assistance from ADEME and an online crowdfunding campaign.

Under the pleasant cover of the Art Deco building of Source Salmière on Friday May 24, 2024, for the launch of their activity, the three founding members – Louis Astoux, Justine Ledoux and Maud Chevalier, the coachwoman – presented their new tourist offer of committed and responsible outings in a minimalist, but comfortable, and collective nomadic daily life, in the presence of Caroline Mey-Fau and Freddy Terlizzi, mayors of Miers and Alvignac. Maud, for her part, provided small demonstration trips in a carriage with all the safety equipment: mirrors, brake lights and indicators, and which can transport up to ten people very comfortably.

Tourism that takes its time

“Nomades des Terres” offers “slow tourism” experiences in the Lot which is theart of traveling while taking your time, while fully soaking up the surrounding nature and the rich heritage. “The interest of the Lot is the diversity and beauty of its landscapes, and its balanced elevation ideal for our two American Percherons,” comments Louis. The driving force of the carriage is provided by Uclem and Utha, unshod males wearing hipposandals. “In a carriage, we understand the deep meaning of the word “journey”, we have time to admire the variety of environments and to interact with the other members of the group. The long-term objective is to be able to leave for several days with three trailers in convoy, one for the kitchen, one for the bathroom and the third for the common area. Nights are spent in tall, spacious tepees. »

A timeless immersion

The summer of 2024 and the two stays in the great outdoors, in a horse-drawn carriage and in groups of up to ten people, coming from all walks of life, will be a real test. Let yourself be tempted by a “Nuit nomade”, a timeless dive with a night at the edge of the Alzou cliffs. On the program, a range of activities: wild gathering, saddlery, photography, stargazing… allowing you to learn new skills collectively. The “Path of Knowledge” takes two nights to discover precious knowledge: wild plants, simple and appropriable sustainable technique workshops, writing new imaginations, etc.

An invitation to disconnect and travel.
