This Saturday 1er June 2024, to CahorsA heavy goods vehicle of foreign origin collided with a car driven by a lady, aged 77, residing in Cahors, who died following the collision with a truck towing a trailer; A road assembly of 38 tonnes.


The collision occurred in the Regourd district, on the D 820 road, linking Cahors to Saint-Pierre-Lafeuille, near the place called Versailles. This is not a frontal collision, but a collision between two vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.

The firefighters from Cahors and those from the Catus brigade called in as reinforcements intervened.

However, the SMUR doctor could only note the death of the person, a resident of Cahors, whose identity was not revealed.

What happened ?

An investigation is underway, led by the National Police Services, which will determine the circumstances of this fatal accident, which apparently took place in the absence of witnesses. According to the first elements collected, the driver of the heavy goods vehicle did not stop at the time of the accident. Was he not aware of the shock? However, he was found by police investigators several kilometers after the point of impact, while he was working on the damaged part of the heavy goods vehicle following the impact with the motor vehicle.

The driver of the heavy goods vehicle is taken into custody at the Cahors police station. Indeed, many questions remain unanswered. Was this foreign-registered vehicle authorized to drive this Saturday afternoon on the roads of the Lot? Was the driver himself in compliance with French legislation? The tachograph records are scrutinized, from which details regarding speed, driving time and other activities (driving, work, availability and rest) are expected.
