The Departmental Union of Family Associations (Udaf) is an association which offers numerous services and advice for families. And to define a family, it’s very simple: “We are a family from the moment there are two of us in a household,” explains Jean-François Dumont, president of the Udaf du Jura.

Free and confidential

Among its many services, Udaf welcomes families to help them manage their budget by advising and guiding them. “Talking about money is complicated for a lot of people because it’s an intimate matter,” says Laëtitia Besançon, advisor. So his colleague Lucie Millet insists: “The help we provide is free and confidential. »

Four branches in the department

In the Jura, Udaf is well established with four branches, one in Dole, one in Lons-le-Saunier, one in Champagnole and one in Saint-Claude. She also works in the 24 France service houses in the department. A dense network therefore, but still insufficient to reach the populations of the most rural municipalities.

To remedy this, Udaf has chartered a minibus which can go to meet families in the most remote areas. For its first stop, the association’s teams parked their minibus at Dole station. “A first attempt, but the objective for the future will rather be to cover the rural areas of the Jura,” specifies Jean-François Dumont. Two stages are already planned in Orchamps and Beaufort.

It is important not to wait until the last minute to act

Laëtitia Besançon, advisor

“When you start to have money problems, it is important not to wait until the last minute to act,” explains Laëtitia Besançon. And often certain simple solutions can help reduce the budget, by taking stock of subscriptions, by renegotiating insurance or energy contracts. “It’s important to bring in competition! » emphasizes Lucie Millet.

Udaf can offer microcredits at low rates

And in the event of a hard hit, Udaf can offer low-rate microcredits ranging from €300 to €8,000. There are numerous projects that can be financed, ranging from the purchase of a vehicle to financing a move or dental care. On this point, Jean-François Dumont regrets seeing many people in difficulty turning to revolving credits. “Organizations are very careful about the situation of people, because the rates are at 20%” and adds: “It’s a vicious circle and we sometimes have to take out a second loan, people find themselves trapped. »
