Works of infiltrate public life in ! – Live

is an open-air museum… This phrase has never been more true since Basel exhibited works in the open air in symbolic places in the capital. We'll show you 3 of them!

The giant mushroom!

A new column has risen at Place Vendôme! Since Tuesday October 15, a strange giant mushroom has been stealing the spotlight from its famous colleague. It is a work of art exhibited on the cobblestones of the capital as part of the “Art Basel” program. Its designer, the artist Carsten Höller, a biologist by training, reveals a part of his universe. Absolutely passionate about the universal symbol of the mushroom, he finds in this species the perfect mix between a fairy tale setting and a potentially hallucinogenic toxic food. A unique path of thought, which led this 3 meter fly agaric to where it is today. You can admire it until November 24.

Girls Screens

As the Palais-Royal national estate celebrates its 400th anniversary this year, three surprise guests came to temporarily participate in the celebration. These are the Screen Girls, female figures shaped on cardboard boxes, then cast in bronze. They all display a different expression, and represent an assumed eroticism. These screens invite us to redefine the boundary between public and private life. You can come and meet them until October 26!

The Takis wind turbine

A self-taught Greek artist, Takis' singularity lies in the field he explored during his lifetime: kinetic art. Inspired by elements of nature, it invites viewers to think about space and materials. One of his flagship works, Aeolienne, is installed until November 5 in the courtyard of the Hôtel de la Marine. Long steel pylons rise above these paving stones, supporting two half-spheres painted yellow and black. A work in perpetual motion, stirred by the breeze. A natural force that is an integral part of marine life.
