RUEIL MALMAISON: Hauts-de-Seine, a strategic issue for the election of the president of the French Tennis Federation

Henry-Pierre Mélone, candidate for president of the Hauts-de-Seine Committee, to revitalize a department with high potential.

The department of Hauts-de-Seine (92) stands out as a key territory in the election of the new president of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), scheduled for December 14. With its 47,000 members, its 60 clubs (21 of which have more than 1,000 members) and its 32 teams registered in the French championships, this department is one of the most dynamic and dense in terms of tennis practice at the national level. . This leading role underlines the importance of each vote, as evidenced by the close results during the last departmental elections of 2020 (50.1% against 49.9%).

In this context, Henry-Pierre Mélonerepresentative of the collective The clubs! At the heart of our commitmentis running for president of the Hauts-de-Seine Tennis Committee. His experience within the Bourg-la-Reine club as general secretary (2004-2007), vice-president (2007-2014) and president (2014-2020), of the Hauts-de-Seine Committee (since 2009 ) and the Ligue Île-de- (since 2018), associated with his experience as deputy mayor for sports in his city and responsible for running the sports network of the Association of Mayors of 92 (since 2020), make him a strong candidate, ready to lead this Committee.

The elections of Committee 92 for the 2024-2028 Olympiad will take place on November 9, 2024. Surrounded by a team of motivated volunteers, Henry-Pierre Mélone states:“Our list reflects the diversity and skills of Hauts-de-Seine. We are ready to lead the Committee and bring the clubs together after the election. If we win, we will reach out to the losing team by offering them a statutory position (treasurer, general secretary or vice-president) to show our desire for openness and unity. We are all volunteers with one goal: to advance tennis in the 92.” He also underlines the strategic importance of Hauts-de-Seine: “The CD92 is a “switching committee”, a key territory which, depending on the result, could potentially tip Île-de-France and influence the national result. »

An analysis of the issues in four axes:

1 – The 92: a strategic department within the Ligue Île-de-France
With 250,000 licensees, the Ligue Île-de-France represents a quarter of French licensees. Among its eight committees, Hauts-de-Seine (92), (75) and (78) are the most influential. The concentration of clubs and licensees in these territories gives them a decisive role in the final result of the elections.
In 2024, the federal election promises to be close between two major figures: Germain Roesch, outgoing president of the Ligue Île-de-France, and Gilles Moretton, outgoing president of the FFT. Whoever wins the Ligue Île-de-France, depending on the score achieved, could gain a decisive advantage at the national level. In the same way, whoever wins Hauts-de-Seine could gain a decisive advantage at the Ile-de-France level by creating a dynamic in their favor.

2 – The influence of tennis in Hauts-de-Seine
Events like the Rolex Paris Masters, which will move from Paris to from 2025, the proximity of Roland Garros and the influence of Hauts-de-Seine on the national tennis scene (47,000 members, 21 clubs with more than 1,000 members , 32 teams in the French championships) are a major strategic asset for any presidential campaign within the FFT.
