The victim was found not far from his home this Monday, October 21. The accidental track is preferred.

“It’s a great sadness for her and for our village.” Alain Coste, the mayor of the town of Omergues (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence) in the Jabron valley is still in shock. This Monday, October 21, late in the afternoon, the lifeless body of a resident was found partly submerged in the water of a stream.

The victim, aged 90 according to the councilor, had been actively sought since Sunday October 20.

“She was a lady that we were used to seeing every day. She moved around with her cane and was appreciated in the village,” recalls Alain Coste.

The preferred accidental track

Since Sunday, residents had taken turns trying to find the old lady. She was finally found not far from her home. The accidental track is currently favored.

“With the rains, it may have slipped. In any case, it’s terrible,” concludes the mayor of Omergues, who went to the scene of the tragedy at the end of the day on Monday.

Firefighters and police also took over the village during this intervention which caused great excitement in the town this Monday evening.
