Ismaël Boudjekada again accused of advocating terrorism

Ismaël Boudjekada, opposition municipal representative in Grand-Charmont in Doubs, regularly hits the headlines with anti-Zionist and provocative tweets. The courts have received a new report concerning him.

He defends the Palestinian cause and the suffering people in Gaza, and it does not matter to him the way, including by flouting French laws which condemn the apology of terrorism.

In messages published on October 15 and 18 on X (formerly Twitter) where he is particularly active, the Doubs municipal councilor wrote: “A hero has died… this martyr is one of the luckiest among us.” He also explains that he does not condemn the events that occurred on October 7, 2023.

This hero is, according to Ismaël Boudjekada, Hamas leader Yahya Sinouar, killed by Israeli soldiers on October 16 in the Gaza Strip, and considered the mastermind of the unprecedented attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. These attacks left 1,206 dead, mostly civilians. In retaliation, at least 42,603 ​​Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed in the Israeli offensive, according to data from the Hamas government’s Health Ministry, deemed reliable by the UN.

To the regional press, the public prosecutor of Montbéliard, Paul Edouard Lallois confirmed that he had received a report targeting Ismaël Boudjekada on the basis of article 40 which specifies that “any constituted authority, any public officer or civil servant who, in the exercise of his functions, acquires knowledge of a crime or misdemeanor is required to give notice without delay to the public prosecutor and to transmit to this magistrate all the information, minutes and acts relating thereto.

“This report made by this deputy from Doubs is perfectly legally valid” believes the prosecutor. Ismaël Boudjekada, municipal councilor of Grand Charmont has officially resided for several months in the Paris region and no longer in Doubs, he will therefore be judged by the Nanterre court. The Montbéliard public prosecutor’s office relinquished responsibility for the benefit of the latter.

For advocating terrorism on the internet, Ismaël Boudjekada faces on paper a sentence of 7 years in prison, a €100,000 fine and a new sanction for ineligibility.

In June 2024, Ismaël Boudjekada had already been convicted of advocating terrorism by the Nanterre court in the Paris region. Two days after the bloody attacks in Israel in October 2023, the elected official from Doubs described Hamas, an organization based in Gaza and recognized as terrorist by Europe, as “resistance movement”.

He was convicted of advocating terrorism, fined €20,000 and ineligible for three years but appealed with suspensive effect.

The elected official from Doubs had already hit the headlines during this year 2024 by qualifying homosexuality as a deviant practice during an interview: “it is not in the natural order of things,” he told the microphone of Jean-Jacques Bourdin on RTL.
