Grenoble: a man in his forties shot dead

Emergency services were unable to resuscitate him. A 47-year-old man died on Sunday evening after being fatally shot by one or more gunshots in Saint-Égrève, in the area (Isère), indicates the prosecution, confirming information from Dauphiné Libéré.

According to Bleu Isère and France 3 Alpes, the man was at home, rue du Moucherotte, when he was the target of gunfire. These are witnesses who called emergency services shortly before midnight. When firefighters and emergency services arrived, the victim was in cardiorespiratory arrest and died from his injuries.

According to information from Dauphiné Libéré, the man was shot in the back. “The number of impacts remains to be determined by the autopsy (one or two),” said François Touret de Coucy, deputy prosecutor.

An investigation has been opened to shed light on the circumstances of this shooting, particularly whether it is linked to drug trafficking which has caused an unprecedented explosion of violence in the Grenoble metropolitan area in recent months. “No link has been made with a drug case at the moment. The victim had no known involvement in this area,” however declared the magistrate.

The shooter(s) are actively sought. The investigation was entrusted jointly to the Grenoble research section and the Meylan research brigade.
