The new Brantôme recycling center will open next Tuesday, November 5. Residents of the area have been waiting for more than a year. The old recycling center was closed in September 2023, because the land was sold by the community of communes to the van manufacturer, Périgord VDL, which is expanding in Périgord Vert and employs more than 400 people. The company needed more space to store its campervans.
A new recycling center in Valeuil
For more than a year, the inhabitants of Brantôme and the surrounding area had to do 20 kilometers more and go to Nontron, Mareuil, or Saint-Pardoux-la-Rivière to access a recycling center. This took time, according to the community of municipalities, because it was necessary to convince other owners and the sale was not completed until January 2024. The work on the new recycling center was also delayed between authorizations. administrative and bad weather.
They will now be able to go to the recycling center located in the former commune of Valeuil.
