an independence movement accuses Travail of “settler colonization”

The sun, the beach, the Brocciu… These are the kinds of arguments that encourage some continental people to want to find a job in Corsica. A trend which is not to the taste of the independence activists of “Nazione” who symbolically walled up the entrance to the Travail premises in this Saturday to denounce the employment policy pursued by the institution. According to them, the agency would be a “real institutional relay for the decorization of jobs”.

Around thirty activists from the party, which has one elected official in the Corsican assembly, then gathered in front of the building to hold a press conference and denounce “the presence of assets from outside the island in all economic sectors . »

In a text read by its spokesperson, Jean-Philippe Antolini, “Nazione” spoke of “a massive influx particularly visible in all the major brands established in Corsica and for all management and management positions”.

In this text, mainland people were particularly targeted, “attracted by the sun, the beaches and, a new development, by the safety in our streets”.

“The hiring priority for Corsicans”

For nationalists, France Travail (formerly Pôle emploi) also favors “settlement colonization” in the face of which Nazione demands “priority in hiring for Corsicans”. “Otherwise, we will intervene with our means by creating the conditions for mobilization against colonial practices,” warned the independence movement. The separatists occupied the lobby of the Leroy-Merlin store in last week, on the same theme.

In 2017, a “local employment charter” was signed by around ten professional and union organizations but the Prefecture put a stop to the project, arguing “discrimination in hiring”.
