This Friday, October 18, 2024, a delicate rescue operation took place off the coast of Cap de la Hèvenear (Seine-Maritime). A Navy helicopter intervened.

The events took place in the early evening when a passenger ship called the regional operational surveillance and rescue center (Cross). The crew informs “that a person on board encountered a medical problem and requests medical evacuation,” specifiesat the maritime prefecture of the English Channel and the North Sea.

A medical team winched onto the ship

The ship is then in the Bay of Seine, off the coast of Le Havre and more precisely not far from Cap de la Hève. “The Cross then establishes a conference call with the maritime medical consultation center (CCMM) of and the Samu of medical coordination maritime (SCMM) of Le Havre. » The regulating doctor will agree with the crew and recommend a medical evacuation.

An H160 helicopter from the French Navy based in Maupertus (in Manche), with a SMUR medical teamtakes off and goes there.

“Once in the area, the medical team is winched on board from the boat to take care of the patient and condition him before being hoisted by helicopter. » He was then evacuated to Le Havre hospital where he is being treated.
