MONTREAL, May 22, 2024 /CNW/ – Last Friday, more than 1,200 people from the world of arts and business gathered at the emblematic cultural venue Arsenal art contemporain to attend the 16th Printemps du MAC with the theme ICONS. It is thanks to the purchase of tickets, donations, partners, sponsors and the silent auction that the amount of more than $520,000 was raised with the aim of supporting the MAC Foundation and supporting contemporary art. Definitely an exceptional success for the 60th anniversary of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Montreal, which generates feelings of pride and accomplishment for the co-presidents of the Printemps du MAC committee, Charles Lemay And Allison Forbesand the rest of their team.

SUCCESS FOR CONTEMPORARY ART

Anne Lebelgeneral director of the MAC Foundation, emphasizes that the amount raised will allow the Fondation du MAC continue to accomplish its mission: “Thanks to the generosity of our donors and the success of this evening, we will be able to offer even more support to artists and make contemporary art accessible to an ever-wider audience. Thank you to donors and partners. I warmly thank the committee for their time, their creativity and their contagious energy to make the event such a flamboyant success! »

The evening’s auction, presented by EY with honorary patron Simon BeaulieuEY Canada, and curated by Erika Del Vecchio (Arsenal contemporary art), was a great success, raising more than $120,000. For the fifth consecutive year, the MAC Foundation will donate a third of the proceeds from the sale of works to artists, thus demonstrating its commitment to supporting their artistic practice.

UNIQUE ICON ATMOSPHERE

The springs of the MAC have once again proven their ability to organize spectacular and cutting-edge events, celebrating freedom of expression and the inclusion of genres and styles. This edition was made possible thanks to the co-presidency of Allison Forbes (Reasonable) and Charles LeMay (Sphere Media). It was notably under the artistic direction of Allison and her Raisonnables team that the benefit evening was able to shine brightly with its ICONS theme, where each participant could dress inspired by an iconic MAC work.

For the first time this year, around ten stars such as Catherine Brunet, Catherine Saint-Laurent, Marina Bastarache, Lou-Pascal Tremblay, Catherine Brunet, Lolitta Dandoy, Julie Ann Ho and Gisèle Lullaby had the chance to wear one of the creations made by designers recognized in Quebec like MRKNTN, Lucas StoweTHE BRAND, Marie Saint PierreTristain Réhel, LAKUACHIMOTO, Caroline Monnet and more, on the famous red carpet entitled MAC gala des Printemps, a nod to the renowned red carpet of the MET gala.

Some strong emotional moments also took place, such as the performance of Coeur de Pirate, Naomi et l’Isle, thanks to Bravo musique, making this evening a memorable event. Unique experiences were also offered to guests, including a mirrored makeup touch-up station by Yves Saint Laurent Beauté. This is without counting the enhanced VIP experience that was experienced thanks to Banque Nationale Gestion Privée 1859 and Bajouk Signature. Additionally, a red-covered photo booth presented by Porsche Lauzon allowed guests to take photos of themselves BonLook was also present to offer celebrity glasses to the participants, in addition to enhancing the red carpet experience and capturing the highlights on polaroid by City of rain, and Simons allowed a saxophone performance. Balnea spa + reserve also contributed to the overall experience with its financial support.

The food offering also made more than one salivate thanks to the support of Billio, Brera, La Diperie, Doordash, Jacopo, Nibbl., restaurant La Fleur and Le Rougié. ABOUT MAC SPRINGS 2024

Major annual charity event, The springs of the MAC has the mission to discover and know the MAC to take over. More than 1,000 philanthropists come together every year to celebrate contemporary art from here and elsewhere for the benefit of MAC. The visual identity of this 2024 evening is a design by Baillat Studio and the photo session, overseen by Baillat Studio, is the product of the photographer Lian Benoit and talents from Humankind and Folio.

The production of the evening will be in every way grandiose, being signed by Raisonnable, and supported by the committee of MAC Spring. There Foundation of the Museum of Contemporary Art aims to support the Museum in its various areas of activity, namely the enrichment of its collection, the production of exhibitions, promotion and educational programs. Its mandate is therefore to solicit funds from companies and individuals interested in the dissemination and conservation of contemporary Quebec, Canadian and international art. The Foundation thus contributes to the influence of the collection of the very first major institution dedicated entirely to contemporary art in Canada : the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art.

ABOUT THE MONTREAL CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM

For sixty years, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art ensures the meeting between local and international artists, their works and varied audiences, celebrating art as an essential component of life in Montreal and Quebec. The head office of Museum, located in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, is about to undergo a major architectural overhaul. In the meantime, the MAC has temporarily relocated its activities to Place Ville Marie, an emblematic place in Montreal’s business district. Since December 1st 2021, and throughout the duration of the expansion and renovation work, the Museum will continue to engage the public through temporary exhibitions highlighting exceptional artists and presenting a variety of practices. In addition to two main exhibitions per year, the MAC at PVM will continue to offer public programs as well as a range of educational services and community outreach activities.
