The 9th edition of the National Architecture Days, under the sign of “New lives of buildings and new practices of architecture” will take place from October 18 to 20, throughout France.

**The National Architecture Days are back on October 18, 19 and 20, throughout mainland France and overseas.** Organized since 2016 by the Ministry of Culture, they aim to discover the architecture, its professions and its social issues to all audiences.
For three days, contemporary architecture will be in the spotlight throughout the territory, whether large projects or everyday constructions (housing, transport, public infrastructure, sports or cultural facilities). Thus, architecture can be discovered in all its facets through a rich and ambitious program of meetings, debates, visits to architectural agencies and construction sites, urban walks, open days, exhibitions, workshops for young audiences, etc.
The 2024 edition of the National Architecture Days is dedicated to “New lives of buildings and new architectural practices”. At a time when the challenges posed by the ecological transition call for continued efforts towards carbon neutrality, the rehabilitation of existing buildings appears essential. Firstly because of the large number of buildings affected by these rehabilitation issues. Housing buildings, administrative, industrial, agricultural, commercial buildings, all these everyday places provide so many opportunities to transform the existing. This transformation holds promise: new uses, bringing nature and the city closer together, use of materials with low environmental impact, consideration of biodiversity. To carry out these rehabilitation and transformation projects, the skills and know-how of architects can meet these new expectations, acclaimed by residents. Build, co-build: the new responsibility of the architect is illustrated in his ability to support local collaborations and to dialogue with users.
Furthermore, on Friday October 18, the “Raise your eyes!” operation will take place. “. Carried out in partnership with the Ministry of National Education and Youth, it is aimed specifically at students, from kindergarten to final year, with the aim of awakening them to an architectural and urban culture.
