The envelope released by the Senegalese authorities will make it possible to come to the aid of the populations of the northern and northeastern regions of Senegal, particularly affected by rising waters.

The flood in the waterways, particularly the Senegal River, caused overflows which affected the localities bordering the river.

“The State of Senegal is releasing an envelope of 8 billion CFA francs to support the populations victims of the floods caused by the overflowing of the Senegal River,” declared the Head of the Senegalese government Ousmane Sonko

Thus, in Bakel, in the Kédougou region, but also in Matam, several homes were invaded by the waters of the Senegal River.

The situation is more catastrophic in Ballou, in Bakel, where a large part of the town is under water.

Faced with this situation, the Minister of the Interior of the government led by Ousmane Sonko, General Jean-Baptiste Tine, visited the affected populations in Bakel and Matam.

The Senegalese head of state, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, will be in the Kédougou region on Friday October 18 and Saturday October 19 to provide state support to impacted families.

The Senegalese head of state will “visit the disaster areas along the Falémé and bring the solidarity of the Nation to the populations concerned”, indicates the press release from the Council of Ministers.
