Boubacar Camara, leader of the Tabax (Build) party, expressed his support for the PASTEF list for the upcoming legislative elections. According to him, entrusting the National Assembly to the opposition, embodied by the former regime of Macky Sall, would be a “setback for the country” and an obstacle to the realization of the vision of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

Guest of the RTS show Champ Contre Champ this Thursday, Boubacar Camara stressed that the Senegalese showed their confidence in the new regime by voting for Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko during the presidential election. For him, the people sanctioned the old regime, “accused of bad governance”, as evidenced by the result of the election of March 24. He called on voters to maintain this dynamic by offering PASTEF an absolute majority in the National Assembly, an essential condition for realizing the ambitious projects of the new government.

For Boubacar Camara, granting a majority to the opposition would be a return to governance marked by “chaos” and practices that he considers harmful from the old regime. He warns against the risks of leaving the National Assembly under the influence of the opposition, describing this choice as an “obstacle to systemic rupture” necessary for a “new start”.

The Tabax leader reiterated his full support for the “Senegal 2050” vision, carried by Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Ousmane Sonko, a vision that he describes as being focused on justice, competence and the prosperity of the country.

“We are ready to unite with PASTEF for a resounding victory in the legislative elections,” he declared. According to him, Senegal must choose between “a rupture for a sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal” and the continuity of a system that he describes as “parasitic”.

Mr. Camara called on the Senegalese to ratify this rupture during the legislative elections of November 17, 2024. “If we do not bury this system, the development of Senegal will remain a chimera,” he warned, insisting on the need to definitively turn the page on a governance that he describes as being at the origin of poverty and insecurity in the country.

Boubacar Camara also urged the Senegalese to be patient and not to judge too quickly the actions of the new regime, which he considers still too young to be the subject of an exhaustive assessment. “It is too early to draw conclusions,” he insisted, while affirming that the priority is now to guarantee a majority to PASTEF in order to allow the government to work effectively to meet the aspirations of the people.
