Senegal is preparing to experience the 8th edition of “Senegal World Tour ”. This competition, contested by Juniors, will be held from October 21 to November 2. Among the 80 participants of more than twenty nationalities, there are Senegalese who will take part in the competition. Among the Men, we find Zoheir Fardoun, Ryad Hobballah, Youness Iyad and Djadji Kâ, while among the Ladies, there is only one representative: Léa Croselli.
“The young people are mainly looking for points. We know that to be able to advance in their career, they will have to gain points. And this tournament is a great opportunity offered to them to earn these points. And I can tell you that even two points allows you to be well received in future tournaments, whether here in Dakar or abroad. Because no player would like to go through the pre-qualifiers, that is to say the pre-tournaments. We must therefore have the guarantee of participating in the final tournaments,” explains Moulid Doumbia, member of the organizing committee.
On the Senegalese chances, Mr. Doumbia analyzes: “The Senegalese chances are always the same. You know, we have young people, they are schoolchildren. Despite their school schedule, they manage to compete. And we make this competition available to them so that they can perform. We had a semi-finalist a year ago, he has his chances, it is Zoheir Fardoun. We have Djadji Kâ who is in his second participation. Léa, among the Girls, had a good participation last year. So that’s about the five that are in the tournament, and they have a chance.”
Note that the two winners of the last edition, the German Christopher Thies and the Polish Daniel Bien, will take part in this 8th edition of this tournament which received the financial support of the Senegalese Tennis Federation through its president Issa Mboup. The latter, present at the press point, granted an envelope of 3 million CFA to the organizers.
