Despite several successes on the American continent, this mode of air transport has long been neglected in . Since the first line in , others have been born or are being prepared, making it possible to respond to the isolation of certain areas.

Two military ships are asleep in their dry docks. The setting sun beats down on the waves of the Penfeld, which flows into the Atlantic a kilometer further. That evening in Brest, around ten people waited for the departure of one of the three urban cable cars operating in France, without breaking the silence inside the gondola. A guy, in his thirties, explains in detail to his girlfriend how the machine works – the superimposed cables, the speed, the height. Once the ascent begins, the gaze is lost in the harbor and the peninsula. Only a man in a beige polo shirt takes photos of the landscape, the others remain frozen on their smartphones or lost in their thoughts. A few dozen seconds later, users land on the right bank of the Penfeld and rush into the large Ateliers des Capucins, as if they were taking a bus or a tramway.

The Brest cable car is the first to take off in France (excluding mountainous areas) in 2016. “We didn’t have a reference, so attendance forecasts were more complicated. Even in Europe, they are rare, we find them mainly in the mountains or for tourist purposes. explains Victor Anton
