They are knocking on your doors this week, are present in front of certain bakeries and supermarkets… the volunteers of the Adapei of the Territoire de (the departmental association of parents, friends and people with mental disabilities) are mobilized until Saturday October 19 for the annual charitable action “Operation Brioches”. Sales of pastries 6 euros, or moreif buyers want to contribute more to finance the association’s projects. The money collected is mainly used for cultural outings, to the theater, cinema or museum.

700 beneficiaries in the Territoire de Belfort

The Adapei of the Territoire de Belfort accommodates approximately 700 beneficiariesof all ages, people faced with an alteration of mental, cognitive, psychological functions or a multiple disability. “A public very affected by social isolation, when they are not within our walls, in our establishments”details Nadia Laaysselresponsible for associative development at Adapei du Territoire de Belfort. Hence the interest in the “Universal Accessibility” project, financed by Operation Brioches, which has existed since the 1970s in the department. “This project helps break this social divide and brings them to be more in living together and diversity”adds Nadia Laayssel.

20,000 buns for sale

As is the case every year, the association hopes to sell more than 20,000 buns until the end of the operation on Saturday. The majority of pastries are cooked in Vendée, the rest come from supermarkets and artisanal bakeries, such as Fournée du Padre, in Belfort, which produced 500 brioches this Wednesday, October 16. Volunteers also go door to door in several towns in the department.

The Adapei of the Territoire de Belfort warns: scammers sell cakespretending to be the association.
If you come across them elsewhere than in front of bakeries, in supermarkets or at the restaurants Le Caveau and Le Bureau in Belfort, ask check their Adapei badge, stamped by the prefecture.
