Nexans Switzerland continues its transition to more sustainable energy at the Cortaillod site. Started during the summer of 2023 in collaboration with Groupe E Greenwatt, the project has enabled, since its launch, the installation of more than 4,000 photovoltaic modules with a capacity of 430W each on ten roofs of the site. An initiative which marks for the company “a real step forward for the sustainability of their activities”, according to the press release sent this Wednesday.

“We are proud to announce the commissioning of these solar installations which reinforce our commitment to sustainability and energy efficiency,” says Marco Spinelli, Managing Director of Nexans Switzerland. “This strategic partnership strongly supports our objective of continuing to reduce our carbon footprint and sustainable business development, and improves our energy resilience. Beyond these installations, Nexans Switzerland only consumes 100% renewable electricity since the beginning of the year,” he continues.

A team of specialists dedicated to this project

The work was carried out by a dedicated team from Groupe E de Boudry. A roof-by-roof approach was implemented to guarantee optimal integration of the solar panels. Each roof had to be treated as an independent entity within an overall system.

This approach made it possible to avoid any encroachment on the productive activity of the site during the installation work. The result was a 100% successful commissioning, carried out nearly five months ahead of initial schedule.

The ten new installations recently commissioned are in addition to those of 700 KW, built and operated in 2015 by Groupe E Greenwatt, thus bringing the total power of the installations at the Cortaillod site to 2.4 MW. A self-consumption rate estimated at 90%, which will allow Nexans Switzerland to increase its energy autonomy by more than 20%. Other projects in favor of the energy transition will soon come to fruition on the Cortaillod site, with the evaluation underway for a third stage of extension of the solar park and another focused on electric mobility. /ero-cob
