“I find it very unpleasant because people show up in our parking lot, they show up in the estate parking lot, and they go running into the woods,” says Sylvain Haut, co-owner of Domaine des Salamandres in the municipality of Hemmingford. , located a few kilometers from the border.

“There are children in there,” worries Mr. Haut in an interview on the 8:30 p.m. bulletin. “We hear children crying in the night.”

The entrepreneur says he feels helpless in the face of these hordes of people rushing to cross the border. He also claims to have taken on at least 250 people in the last two years.

“We can’t really interact because when they arrive, I tell you, they’re gazelles,” he says. “They run away and then they go into the woods, but it’s more like the night when you’re lying down.”

And the day after the passage of these people who desperately want to cross the border, Mr. Haut mentions finding suitcases and “laundry everywhere” when he walks in the forest on his estate.

“It’s quite amazing,” he adds.
