For its sixth match of the World Championship in Prague, Switzerland faces Canada on Sunday evening (8:20 p.m.). With one goal: to finish first in your group.

Switzerland must win in sixty minutes against Canada to stay in Prague for the quarterfinals and secure one of the first two places in their group.

After having accumulated 14 points thanks to five successes in as many games and having already qualified for the quarter-finals, Switzerland has the opportunity to take first (or second) place in its group and make sure to stay in Prague for the knockout matches. But for that, we have to beat Canada in sixty minutes. To finish in first place, we would then have to score another point against the Finns on Tuesday evening.

With the prodigy Connor Bedard, the Canadians managed the same course as Switzerland with five successes and 14 points, losing a unit during a crazy match against Austria where they led 6-1 after two thirds to finally see the Roger Bader players come back to 6-6. John Tavares gave the Canadians the second point after 15 seconds of overtime.

Switzerland does not have only bad memories against the maple leaf nation, since it won the last four duels in the group stage (2017, 2018, 2022 and 2023). The only defeat (3-2 ap) during this period dates back to the quarter-final in Kosice in 2019. The Helvetii will obviously be very motivated in an ice rink where many Swiss should take their place. Funny detail, since Stransky’s goal in the second third against the Czech Republic, Switzerland has not conceded a goal. She beat Great Britain 3-0 then Denmark 8-0.
