The - agglomeration, in association with the 13 municipalities of the former New Town, is relaunching the home plant grinding service this fall for all Cergypontains living in lodges.

For this second edition, several slots are offered in each municipality, on Wednesdays and Saturdays, until the end of November.

Why use grinding? In addition to reducing the quantity of waste to be collected and processed, the use of shredding is useful in the garden. In composting, the shredded material (branches reduced to broken pieces) can be stored next to the composter as brown material (dry and carbonaceous material). Spread as a layer of mulch on the ground around the plants, it helps protect and nourish them for the winter.

Interventions are carried out according to a pre-established schedule (see box below). Appointments are open to all Cergypontains living in a pavilion subject to being able to meet several conditions. The crushing is carried out outside the property, along the roadway, an area accessible to the intervention team. The presence of the user or a third adult person is mandatory during the intervention. Agents mandated by the city will not be authorized to enter the property. Green waste and branches must be prepared and grouped before the meeting near the place of intervention.

The duration of the intervention is approximately 1 hour per household. The volume of plant waste must be a minimum of 1/2 m3 (the equivalent of one washing machine) and a maximum of 5 m3 (6 washing machines). The types of plants authorized are as follows: branches and twigs with a diameter of 20 mm to 210 mm. The cutting of the branches must be less than two months old. If the branches were pruned more than 2 months before, decomposition has already begun and grinding is no longer useful. Type of plants refused: grass, weeds, organic materials, plastics, paper, cardboard, wire, fence.

The resident can keep the shredded material to use for mulching or composting in their garden. In this case, he must prepare his paper bags to collect the crushed material. Otherwise, the agglomeration can recover the shredded material for shared composting sites.
