More than 70 dogs saved in a Morbihan breeder

Beaucerons, golden retrievers, beagles, King-Charles Cavaliers… More than 70 dogs were seized this Tuesday, October 15, in the morning, for the benefit of the association Action Protection Animale (APA) on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, in a breeding farm in Bréhan (56). Anne-Claire Chauvancy, president of APA, was on site.

“Kept by a breeder authorized to have nine dogs, the dogs, breeding adults, lived in abominable conditions,” indicates the association. Comments confirmed by the prosecution which reported “failures in the care of animals”.

For more than nine dogs, a request for a facility classified for environmental protection must be made. “Extremely thin, dirty, sick, they were floundering in their excrement. Around ten decomposing corpses were even found on site…” adds the APA.

A complaint filed

This intervention follows an inspection of the breeding last week by the services of the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP), following a complaint received at the gendarmerie. “In 2021, this breeding had already been put on notice for keeping too many animals compared to its authorization. No follow-up was given. » This time, a complaint was filed. According to our information, the breeder has not yet been interviewed by investigators. He could be prosecuted for animal abuse.

The dogs were distributed to different shelters in the West and Île-de- of the association. In Bréhand and Trégrom (22) in particular but also in Férel (56) and (49). “We will treat them and try to find them a host family,” says the association.
