The firefighters are on a war footing a few hours before a new episode in the Cévennes. Very heavy rain will affect the department and in particular the Cévennes this Wednesday and Thursday, or even Friday. The stormy episode will generate accumulations of 100 to 150 mm, i.e. 100 to 150 liters of water per square meter. Up to 250 locally in 24 hours. On Thursday, slightly less heavy precipitation totals are expected: 80 to 100 mm.

A “mobile device”

The lieutenant-colonel of the Gard firefighters, Eric Agrinier : “We are going to set up two GPI groups, multi-purpose flood groups (…) our chain of command is activated, with a reinforcement of officers. thirty officers are mobilized, for the operational center, to coordinate actions on the ground , or even ensure an increase in power.”
