A new accident after a refusal to comply occurred on Sunday at dawn in the town of Montauban-de-Bretagne near Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine). Around 6:30 a.m., gendarmes from the Montfort-sur-Meu company carried out a road check at the exit of a nightclub. The driver of a vehicle then refused to stop and continued driving.
In his escape, he violently hit a gendarme who was thrown about ten meters, reports The Telegram. Suffering from head trauma and a broken leg, the soldier was transported to the emergency room of Rennes University Hospital without his life being in danger. “He is still hospitalized and could not be heard because his state of health does not allow it,” the Rennes prosecutor’s office told 20 Minutes.
Without a license and positive for alcohol and drugs
Shortly afterwards, the driver was arrested and taken into custody. Aged 20, he was driving without a license and tested positive for alcohol and drugs.
An investigation into “refusal to comply in dangerous conditions for people, intentional violence with a weapon against a person holding public authority, driving without a license and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs” has been opened.
